Bomb alert diverts Airbus A320 plane going from Dublin to Rome, French PM says
What happened
An Aer Lingus plane carrying 151 passengers and six crew from Dublin to Rome was diverted to the French air base at Évreux in Normandy after a bomb threat, the office of French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said.
The aircraft landed safely, and military bomb disposal teams were examining it, according to the prime minister's office.
About 25 flights across Europe were hit by hoax bomb alerts on Thursday, with some making unplanned landings or being escorted by fighter jets, according to airlines and authorities.
Threats to flights bound for Rome and Sofia, seen by AFP, claimed to come from "fighters of the Male State", which France 24 described as a far-right Russian group.
No explosives were found on any of the planes checked in Italy, Spain or Bulgaria, according to authorities in those countries.
The EU's transport commissioner, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, said it was too early to say whether the incidents are linked.
“Any threats against civilians are unacceptable”
