Privacy
Short version: no cookies, no ads, no third-party trackers, no accounts. We count visits anonymously and keep only what you choose to send us.
Who runs OKOSPHERE
OKOSPHERE is made by TOLIIMANN. Contact: [email protected].
In your browser
Your interests, reading history, saved places and display settings are kept in your browser’s local storage and never leave your device. The site also keeps a random anonymous label there, so we can tell a returning visitor from a new one; it is not linked to your name, email or any other site. “Clear my data” in the menu removes your interests and history; clearing this site’s data in your browser removes everything, including the label.
Visit counting
When the page opens, it sends us the time, your country as reported by Cloudflare, whether the device is a phone, the site you came from (its domain or utm_source only, never the full address), the section you opened and a short salted hash of the anonymous label — not the label itself. A few actions (opening a country, topic, article or event, sharing, following, searching) are counted the same way: the type of action plus the same hash. Your IP address is used in memory only, to limit repeated requests, and is not written to these records.
Don’t want to be counted? Open okosphere.com/?nocount=1 once in your browser; /?nocount=0 turns counting back on.
Server logs
Like most web servers, ours logs each request: IP address, time, requested page, response code, referring page, browser type and country. We use these logs for security and troubleshooting, and delete them after 15 days.
Feedback
If you use the feedback form, we store your message, the contact you chose to leave (optional), the time and your browser type. We use them only to improve the site and to reply to you. Ask us, and we will delete them.
Services we rely on
Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from attacks; to do that it processes your IP address. Anthropic (Claude) translates headlines and writes summaries; it receives news text only, never data about you. News photos load directly from the publishers’ servers, so a publisher sees your IP address when its photo loads; we send no referrer with these requests.
Legal basis and your rights
We count visits and keep logs on the basis of legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): to see whether the site is useful and to keep it secure. Feedback is processed because you chose to send it. You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to delete it or object to the processing — write to the address above. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
