Pro-Russian hackers leak Italian foreign minister’s data on dark web
What happened
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Saturday that pro-Russian hackers have put his personal data on the dark web because of Italy's support for Ukraine.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni backed Tajani and called the sale of confidential details about public officials "a matter of serious concern", according to The Hindu.
Tajani said the hackers want more information about him and his family and are ready to pay for it.
Screenshots seen by Reuters showed his photo on a list of 18 people labelled hostile to Russia, which also named cybersecurity experts.
Tajani also tied the attacks to the Foreign Ministry's push to strengthen its cyber defences.
Moscow has not commented, and Russia has repeatedly denied involvement in hacking abroad.
“I will not allow myself to be intimidated in any way”
