Alarm bell sounds over new city plan
The Thailand Consumers Council has warned that Bangkok faces a growing risk of flooding from northern runoff, dam discharges, accumulated rainfall and high tides, and that a proposed new city plan could make matters worse by giving flood-retention areas over to housing estates and condominiums.
